Had your juice this morning?
Had your juice this morning?
My husband & I are documentary junkies. A few months ago we came across the documentary titled“Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”. We were pleasantly surprised and became instant fans. It’s fantastic, I definitely recommend this one.
It’s about and Australian professional, Joe Cross, who is overweight (325lbs) and out-of-shape. Suffering from an auto-immune disorder and alarming health concerns, he decides to get healthy by way of “juicing”. Not the steroid kind, but a 60-day fast of only juiced fruits and vegetables. His journey is impressive and inspiring to many others, including a truck driver named Phil. At 480lbs, Phil is even heavier than Joe and living a road to certain death. Joe offers Phil a second chance at life and introduces Phil to Joe’s juice-fast. Although hesitant, Phil decides to make a complete life-style change. The results are jaw dropping and leave you crying tears of joy in the end. If you’re looking for some entertainment this weekend, pick this one! You won’t be disappointed. You can access the documentary through Netflix or online at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1227378/
On a personal note, my husband was so inspired by this that he bought a juicer for Christmas. Since December 25th, he has been drinking a 16oz glass of juiced yumminess everyday. He looks and feels better than ever! Go, Honey!
Travel:
Southwest is coming to Richmond!
RIC almost had Southwest ten years ago, but the deal fell short. Now it’s becoming reality! Southwest Airlines completed the acquisition of AirTran Airways in 2011, and the full transition from AirTran to Southwest could take as much as two years….but they have confirmed RIC as a location. The addition of Southwest to RIC could open up several flights to Southwest U.S. and West Coast at discounted prices. RIC currently does not have non-stop air service to any destination west of Dallas. According to the airline, Southwest Airlines' average passenger fare is $142.31 one way…sweet!
If you rely on AirTran for non-stop flights to Orlando and Atlanta, rumor has it that will still be available out of Richmond.
And it gets better…currently you have to pay for your first bag through AirTran. Southwest says it plans to keep the popular, "2 bags fly free" motto. We knew there was a reason their stock symbol is LUV!!!!
Lifestyle:
Coolsculpting
Are you tired of wanting to throw a harpoon at your reflection every morning? If you’ve got a little cash, grab a quick fix! There’s nothing like the instant gratification of a quick cosmetic procedure. It may not be for everyone but it’s awesome not having to work off that muffin top alone.
Our quick fix pick? “Coolsculpting”. It’s been around for a while and we’re finally seeing more doctors perform the fat-freezing fun in our area. Doctors advertise great results with NO downtime. The skinny on this new gem is that you can actually “sculpt” your bod in the right places. It’s a completely non-invasive procedure that freezes the targeted fat layer, which then gets absorbed by your body. The doctor we checked out charges about $725 per area. But it’s not so simple, it can add up quickly. You may be thinking that you only need your belly “chilled” but you may need several areas on your belly (for instance I need 3 just for my abdomen & I’m a size 8). Your doctor may also recommend a follow up treatment (or two, or three). If I just bummed you out, don’t be sad! It’s still a great procedure with proven results and it’s much less expensive than traditional liposuction. Not to mention there is no down time! So ask your self, am I worth it? We think so!
Update: Someone very close to me had this done about a month ago. I must admit...we see the results! The patient was pretty sore for a long while afterwards (weeks) and still felt "frozen" for at least 2 weeks but looks great!

Post a comment or send us an email if you’d like to know which Richmond office we checked out. And if you’ve had it done, we totally want to hear about it!!

Kids Dine Free!
I had used the Entertainment books for years to save on our family’s meals out. Then, the coupons for “south of the river” went south so to speak.I could not seem to find any good restaurants that we frequented. Then, I discovered Kids Dine Free. You buy a card for $19.95, which is good for three months, per child. It includes unlimited free children’s meals, as long as you are purchasing an adult meal. The participating restaurants and further information can be found at Kidsdinefree.net.

Ride The Rapids
If your kids are bored in the summer and looking for something out-of-the-ordinary, check out Passages Adventure Camp through Peak Experiences. It is designed for ages 5-17, and can include kayaking on the James River, climbing/rappelling, and mountain biking. We have not yet tried this camp, but it sounds like it will 1)tire out your children, 2) looks well supervised, and 3) definitely will teach some challenging skills. Further information can be found at
